The poodle has appeared in paintings since the 1400s in Europe. Originally, poodles were water retrievers. The classic lion clip made swimming easier during hunting. Poodles come in four different sizes: toy, miniature, medium and standard. The smaller poodles were mainly used as companion dogs.
